Carriage House Garage Doors
Carriage House style garage doors originated during a time when people used horses and carriages to get from place to place. They would store them in a barn with doors that would swing out wide enough so the carriages would fit. Hence the name, carriage garage doors.
In today’s day and age, people love the classic and traditional look on their homes. Carriage garage doors offer this elegant look that homeowners strive for.
Original carriage garage doors were made from wood with iron hinges and other hardware. They were hinged at the sides and swung outwards so that the horse and carriage could properly fit.
Carriage garage doors often had some kind of intricate woodwork such as barn-like criss-cross planking, large handles and decorative window inserts.
The carriage house style garage door is a beautiful modern twist to an old traditional favorite.
