199S Heavy Duty Steel Roller Gravity Conveyor and Curves – 1.9″ x 9 ga.

A heavy duty, non-powered gravity roller conveyor available in both straight and curve configurations. Features 1.9-inch diameter, 9-gauge steel rollers with smooth swaged ends rated at 260 lbs per roller. Formed 10-gauge steel channel frame with zinc-plated, grease-packed ball bearings. Manufactured by Roach Conveyors for heavier cartons, crates, and industrial tote handling.

Overview

The 199S series uses heavier 9 gauge steel tubing for rollers, mounted within formed frames that support higher distributed loads than lighter gravity sections. Integral plain bearings are zinc plated and grease packed for reliable rotation without power. Available in straight and curved sections, this conveyor line supports heavier cartons, crates, and tote-based material.

As the heaviest-gauge model in the Roach 1.9-inch gravity roller series, the 199S is built for operations where standard 16-gauge or 12-gauge rollers do not provide enough wall thickness for the loads being conveyed. The 9-gauge roller wall and 10-gauge frame combine for a robust, low-maintenance conveyor section that handles demanding daily use in manufacturing, automotive, and industrial supply environments.

Specifications

  • Roller diameter: 1.9 inches
  • Roller gauge: 9 ga. steel with smooth swaged ends
  • Frame (set high): 3-1/2 in. x 1-1/2 in. x 10 ga. formed steel painted channel
  • Frame (set low): 4-1/2 in. x 1-1/2 in. x 10 ga. formed steel painted channel
  • Bearings: Integral plain ball bearings, zinc plated, grease packed
  • Axles: 7/16-inch hex shaft, spring loaded
  • Couplings: Butt type
  • Optional frame: 4 in. @ 5.4 lbs structural steel channel frame, rollers 3/16 in. high

Straight Sections

Straight 199S sections are available in multiple lengths and between-frame widths with roller center spacing options of 3 in., 4.5 in., 6 in., 9 in., and 12 in. The 10-gauge formed steel frame provides structural rigidity that supports the heavier roller tubes without flex or deflection under load.

Curve Sections

The 199SC curve companion is available in 45° and 90° configurations. Narrower curves use a single roller design, while wider sections use a double roller design for consistent product support through the turn. The curve connects to straight sections using the same butt-type coupler system.

Load Capacity

Each 9-gauge roller is rated at 260 pounds. Frame-level capacity depends on support placement.

  • Supports on 10-foot centers: 1,300 lbs maximum distributed live load per 10-foot section
  • Supports on 5-foot centers: 3,200 lbs maximum distributed live load

Applications

The 199S is designed for operations that move heavier-than-average unit loads on a non-powered conveyor line. Typical applications include automotive parts handling and assembly staging, manufacturing production lines that transfer heavy components between stations, industrial supply distribution where cartons and containers exceed standard weights, truck loading and unloading of heavy freight, and warehouse receiving and put-away operations that handle dense or bulky products.

The thicker roller wall provides greater long-term durability under repetitive heavy loads, reducing roller replacement frequency and lowering overall maintenance costs compared to lighter-gauge models used beyond their capacity.

Selection Assistance

The 199S is the right choice when your heaviest conveyed items approach or exceed 250 pounds per roller contact and you need the durability of a 9-gauge roller wall. For lighter loads in the 250-pound range, the 192S (12 ga., 260 lbs/roller) offers comparable capacity with a lighter roller. For standard carton handling under 250 pounds, the 196S (16 ga., 250 lbs/roller) is the most economical option in the Roach lineup.

FAQs

How does the 199S compare to the 192S and 196S?

The 199S uses 9-gauge rollers rated at 260 lbs, the 192S uses 12-gauge rollers also rated at 260 lbs, and the 196S uses 16-gauge rollers rated at 250 lbs. While the 199S and 192S share the same per-roller capacity, the thicker 9-gauge wall on the 199S provides greater durability and a longer service life under heavy repetitive loads. All three share the same 10-gauge frame and grease-packed bearing platform.

How does the Roach 199S compare to the LEWCO 1909?

Both use 1.9-inch, 9-gauge rollers for heavy duty applications. The Roach 199S is rated at 260 lbs per roller with a 10-gauge frame and grease-packed ball bearings. The LEWCO 1909 is rated at 300 lbs per roller with a 12-gauge frame and non-precision oiled bearings. The LEWCO 1909 offers a higher per-roller rating, while the Roach 199S provides a heavier frame and sealed bearing construction. Barron Equipment carries both brands.

What curve angles are available for the 199SC?

The 199SC is available in 45-degree and 90-degree configurations. Wider sections use a double roller design for improved load support through the turn.

Are the bearings suited for demanding environments?

Yes. The 199S uses grease-packed ball bearings with zinc plating. The sealed grease pack protects the bearing assembly from dust and debris, making it well suited for manufacturing floors and industrial environments where airborne particles are present.

Does Barron Equipment install heavy duty Roach conveyors?

Yes. Barron Equipment provides complete conveyor system planning, installation, and service for both Roach and LEWCO gravity conveyors throughout the upper Midwest.
