Overview
3.5-inch diameter, 9 ga. gravity roller conveyors are ideal for applications that require an economical, non-powered means for conveying material. This heavy duty conveyor is used for handling full pallets, drums, and containers.
The 3509 is the first model in the LEWCO 3.5-inch roller class — a significant step up from the 2.5-inch series. The larger roller diameter provides substantially more surface contact with the bottom of pallets, drums, and heavy containers, improving stability and flow for the heaviest unit loads. Combined with a structural steel channel frame and welded connections throughout, the 3509 is built for permanent installations that handle heavy loads continuously.

Structural Construction Details
The 3509 uses heavier construction methods than every conveyor in the 1.9-inch and 2.5-inch series. Key differences include a structural steel channel frame (4 at 5.4 lbs) rather than formed sheet metal channel, welded 4-gauge angle crossties (nearly twice the thickness of the 8-gauge crossties used on lighter models), and welded 1/4-inch plate butt couplers rather than bolted couplers. These construction upgrades provide the rigidity and durability needed for permanent installations handling the heaviest unit loads.
Load Capacity
Each 3.5-inch, 9-gauge roller is rated at 750 pounds. The structural frame and welded crossties support very high section-level loads.
- Roller capacity: 750 lbs per roller
The 3.5-inch roller diameter provides approximately 84% more surface contact area than a 1.9-inch roller and 40% more than a 2.5-inch roller. This wider contact surface distributes load more evenly and improves flow for pallets with uneven or damaged bottom boards.
Applications
The 3509 is designed for the most demanding gravity conveyor applications in heavy industry. Typical uses include full pallet transfer in manufacturing and distribution where pallet weights consistently exceed 2,000 lbs, loaded drum handling in chemical, petroleum, and food processing operations, heavy container and dunnage rack staging in automotive plants, structural steel and heavy fabrication component movement, permanent conveyor installations at receiving and shipping docks, and high-throughput pallet lines where conveyor sections must withstand continuous heavy loading.
Options and Accessories

Selection Assistance
The 3509 is the right choice when your application requires the 3.5-inch roller diameter class for maximum surface contact with heavy unit loads. For operations that need the same 750 lbs per roller but can use a smaller roller diameter, the 2511 (2.5 in., 11 ga.) and 2607 (2.62 in., 7 ga. heavy wall) offer more compact alternatives. For loads exceeding 750 lbs per roller, the 3530 (3.5 in., 30 ga. — schedule pipe) provides 2,000 lbs per roller.
