Overview
When a standard two-post VRC cannot handle the load, the Wildeck 4XLift takes over. Its four wide-flange structural steel guide columns provide the stability and capacity needed to move palletized goods, heavy machinery, tooling, vehicles, and oversized loads between floor levels without the permitting complexity and ongoing inspection costs of a freight elevator. The 4XLift is designed and manufactured to meet ANSI/ASME B20.1 — the safety standard for conveyors — and Wildeck guarantees code compliance in every state.
What sets the 4XLift apart from other four-post VRCs is the standard inclusion of the AutoSenz® D-Series overload detection system. This patented system continuously monitors the lift motor’s current draw and stops the carriage immediately if a jam or overload condition is detected, protecting both the load and the lift structure from damage.
Capacity and Configuration
The 4XLift is available in two capacity tiers, with custom higher-capacity designs available from the factory. Carriage platforms can be sized up to 12 feet wide by 30 feet long, and lifting heights reach up to 150 feet. This makes the 4XLift suitable for everything from a simple ground-to-mezzanine transfer to a multi-level vertical transport system in a high-bay facility.
- Standard capacity: up to 15,000 lbs
- High-load capacity: up to 30,000 lbs (higher available — consult factory)
- Carriage platform: up to 12 ft wide x 30 ft long, custom sizes available
- Lifting height: up to 150 ft (custom heights available)
- Travel speed: 20 fpm standard, higher speeds available
- Loading patterns: C, Z, 90°, or 4-sided
- Levels: ground floor plus 1 stop standard; multi-level operation available
- Pit-less flat plate carriage available on some sizes — eliminates loading ramp or pit requirements
SmartControl™ with AutoSenz® Overload Detection
Every 4XLift ships with Wildeck’s SmartControl™ system, built around an Allen Bradley controller with a color touch screen display. The system provides audible alerts for common fault conditions, records time-stamped fault history for maintenance tracking, and includes system diagnostics accessible from the touch screen. The AutoSenz® overload detection runs continuously during lift operation, monitoring motor current in real time and stopping the carriage if an obstruction or overload is detected — before damage occurs to the load, the carriage, or the lift structure.
Safety and Guarding
The 4XLift meets ANSI/ASME B20.1 requirements for safety gates and 8-foot-high guarding on all accessible sides. Gates include both electrical and mechanical interlocks that prevent lift operation when gates are not fully closed — and gates cannot be opened unless the carriage is at the designated level. Optional safety features include the CargoLok™ carriage gate for enclosing large rolling loads, an audible alarm system, and the SafeLok™ system that locks the carriage at upper levels for added security during loading and unloading.
Mechanical Lifting System
The 4XLift uses a continuous-duty lifting motor driving heavy-duty roller chains through a high-service-factor gearbox and alloy steel driveshaft. The four-post guide columns are 6-inch or 8-inch wide-flange structural steel beams, fabricated by AWS D1.1 certified welders. The drive system, chain, gearbox, and driveshaft are designed for long service life in high-cycle, heavy-load applications. A broken-chain free-fall safety system is standard.
Applications
The 4XLift serves warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, iron and steel mills, printing operations, chemical and pharmaceutical plants, automotive operations, self-storage, government facilities, aerospace, and any operation that needs to move heavy material between elevation levels without a freight elevator.
