LEWCO WRC Medium Duty Wheel Rail Conveyor – Single Channel Frame

The LEWCO WRC is a medium duty wheel rail that can be utilized as a tote, box, or carton rail in flow racks and other gravity applications. Unlike the double channel WRA and WRB models designed for pallet-level loads, the WRC uses a single channel frame that keeps weight and cost lower while still delivering reliable gravity flow for lighter unit loads. Standard 1.9 in. diameter steel wheels are rated at 75 lbs. dynamic load with optional 100 lb. wheels available. Wheel centers of 2 in. or 3 in. are offered, and lengths range from 12 in. to 120 in. Optional pallet stops are also available.

Single Channel Wheel Rail for Carton, Tote, and Box Flow

Not every gravity flow lane needs the structural weight of a double channel pallet rail. When cartons, totes, bins, or small cases are the primary load, the LEWCO WRC delivers the same smooth wheel-based flow at a lower cost and lighter profile. Its single channel frame is designed to mount inside pallet racking or on shelving systems where compact rail dimensions and easy installation are priorities.

When to Choose the WRC Over the WRA or WRB

The LEWCO wheel rail series includes models for every duty level and load type. The WRC sits in a specific niche — medium duty, single channel, designed for cartons and totes rather than pallets.

The WRA uses a double channel frame for pallet-level loads across longer spans. The WRB adds staggered close wheel centers for heavy duty pallet applications with irregular bottom surfaces. The WRC strips away the second channel because cartons, totes, and boxes do not generate the same deflection forces that pallets do. The result is a lighter rail that costs less per foot, installs faster, and takes up less space inside the rack beam.

If your flow rack lanes handle standard shipping cartons, pick totes, or small cases weighing up to 75 lbs. per wheel contact point, the WRC is likely the most cost-effective choice in the LEWCO lineup.

Applications

The WRC is most commonly installed inside pallet racking or shelving to create gravity-fed pick lanes for order fulfillment operations. It is also used in carton flow racks for FIFO inventory rotation, gravity-fed pack stations, assembly line feed lanes, and staging areas where totes or bins need to advance to a pick face under their own weight.

Industries that rely on carton and tote flow rails include e-commerce fulfillment, third-party logistics, food and beverage packaging, consumer goods, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing and assembly operations.

Selection Assistance from Barron Equipment

Choosing between the WRC, WRA, WRB, or other LEWCO wheel rail models depends on what you are conveying, how much it weighs, and how the rails will be mounted. Barron Equipment’s conveyor team can walk you through the options and recommend the configuration that matches your product mix and rack layout.

FAQs

What is the difference between the WRC and the WRA?

The WRA uses a double channel frame designed for medium duty pallet flow applications across longer spans. The WRC uses a single channel frame designed for cartons, totes, and boxes. Both are medium duty and share the same wheel type and center spacing options, but the WRC is lighter, more compact, and more economical for non-pallet loads.

Can the WRC be used for pallet flow?

The WRC is not designed for pallet-level loads. If you need gravity pallet flow rails, the WRA (medium duty) or WRB (heavy duty) are the appropriate choices. The WRC is best suited for cartons, totes, bins, and small cases.

What wheel spacing should I choose for the WRC?

The WRC is available with 2 in. or 3 in. wheel centers. Use 2 in. spacing for smaller or lighter items that need more contact points, and 3 in. spacing for standard cartons with flat, consistent bottoms where lower cost per foot is preferred.

Does Barron Equipment provide installation for LEWCO wheel rail systems?

Yes. Barron Equipment provides application engineering, installation, and ongoing maintenance for all LEWCO conveyor products across Iowa and the Midwest.
