Mechanical Dock Levelers

Overview

Mechanical dock levelers are an economical solution to basic applications, while still providing strength and durability. These levelers use a pull chain activation to raise the deck. The operator then simply walks the deck back down to the bed of a trailer or to a stored position. Because mechanical levelers require no electrical or pneumatic power source to operate, they are a dependable choice for facilities where electricity or air power may not be available — and for operations where simplicity, low first cost, and minimal maintenance are the primary priorities.

Pull Chain Activation These levelers use a pull chain activation to raise the deck. No electrical hookup is required at each unit. A simple pull of the release chain raises the leveler and automatically extends the lip. The Cam Control™ counter balance assembly guides the raise cycle for smooth, controlled operation.

Extended Range Float Mechanism: Mechanical levelers are equipped with an extended range, hold down mechanism for extreme float conditions. This is particularly important for facilities servicing air-ride suspension trailers, where trailer bed height can shift significantly during loading operations.

Multi-Position Safety Legs: Dual pivoting cross-traffic legs provide multi-position safety in the event of early trailer departure, and working range toe guards close off the sides in the service range position.

Lockout/Tagout Maintenance Strut: A built-in lockout/tagout maintenance inspection strut is standard on all models — supporting OSHA-compliant servicing practices throughout the life of the leveler.

Choosing the Right Mechanical Dock Leveler

The right mechanical leveler comes down to three key factors: load capacity, pit length, and structural requirements.

For standard-to-moderate duty applications where loads fall within the 25K–40K CIR range and 6′ or 8′ pit lengths are sufficient, the LMP Series delivers proven Poweramp performance at the most accessible price point in the mechanical lineup. For heavier loads, longer pits, or applications where structural superiority and the CleanSweep frame as a standard feature are non-negotiable, the HM Series is the right choice — with capacities up to 50K CIR and standard lengths to 10′.
