Overview
When size does matter, choose HM Series heavy-duty mechanical loading dock leveler. With 29 inches of direct rear hinge support and a high-strength deck constructed of a combination of structural steel "C" channels and "I" beams, the HM Series provides exceptional structural superiority for heavy-duty applications.HM Series Levelers come in 6', 6'6", & 7' standard widths and 6', 8', & 10' standard lengths. Other lengths may be available. Standard capacities for the HM Series are 30K, 35K, 40K, 45K, & 50K CIR (Comparative Industry Rating). The HM Series Leveler is shipped completely assembled and ready for use, once permanently installed in pre-formed pits.
Leveler to be operated by pulling and holding ring at rear of ramp; unit will raise and lip will extend and hold. No manual lifting is required. Unit is powered by extension springs and guided by the Cam Control™ counter balance assembly. The operator walks the ramp down to the truck bed. The hold-down and float mechanism will hold the ramp in place and float with trailer movement. The standard lip is 16", with an operating range of 12" above and below dock level. The platform is designed to compensate for canted truck beds up to 4" and remain flush with the dock floor. The HM Series conforms to OSHA requirements and is manufactured in compliance with ANSI MH 30.1. It is designed and manufactured in the USA.
Features & Benefits
The CleanSweep frame provides easy periodic clean up, maintenance and inspection and is standard on the HM leveler. The four-sided box construction provides a stronger, more durable deck assembly. The extended range, float barrel hold-down is designed to operate under extreme float conditions common with "air ride" suspension trailers, and provides fingertip release of the leveler making storing the unit a snap. The Lip Drive™ positive lip extension reliably extends the leveler lip and restricts its descent until walk down is performed. An 11-tooth hold-down assembly, multiple position safety stop, working-range toe guards, lip-supporting service strut, and lockout/tagout maintenance strut are all included as standard. Lip keepers are welded to frame members providing nighttime security and cross-traffic support.
Applications
The HM Series is built for loading dock environments where structural strength, reliable lip extension, and durability under heavy-cycle and heavy-load conditions are non-negotiable. Its combination of structural steel "C" channels and "I" beams, along with the 11-tooth float barrel hold-down, make it particularly well-suited for facilities that regularly service air-ride suspension trailers.
- Heavy Manufacturing & Industrial Distribution — Operations handling heavy machinery, building materials, or industrial components that require 30K–50K CIR capacity
- Building Material & Construction Supply — High-cycle docks handling palletized or bulk construction materials with frequent trailer changes
- Auto Parts & Automotive Supply — Facilities servicing air-ride suspension trailers at high frequency where the extended float range is essential
- Wholesale & Industrial Distribution — Multi-position docks requiring consistent performance, low maintenance, and long-term structural durability
- Facilities Upgrading from Standard Mechanical Levelers — Operations where the CM or LMP Series capacity or structural rating no longer meets application demands
- Facilities Prioritizing Low Operating Costs — Mechanical operation eliminates hydraulic components, reducing long-term maintenance costs and system complexity
Selection Assistance
The HM Series is Poweramp's heavy-duty mechanical leveler — the right choice for applications requiring structural superiority, extended float range for air-ride trailers, and capacities up to 50K CIR. For lighter-duty mechanical applications, the CM Series offers roll-formed deck construction at a lower price point. The HM Series is available with a range of options including vehicle restraints (PowerHook®, TPR®, UniChock™, UXL), extended lip lengths (18" and 20"), Dock Alert Communication System, foam-insulated deck, weather seals, pit steel, and more. Our product specialists at Barron can help evaluate your dock dimensions, load requirements, and trailer types to confirm whether the HM Series is the right fit.
