Kingpinless Casters

Overview

At Barron Equipment  and Overhead Doors, we have some of the top maintenance-free, high quality, heavy duty casters on the market. Out of this variety of high-capacity casters, our Kingpinless casters are our most popular. With a capacity range of 650 lbs to 1,250 lbs, these rigid and swivel industrial casters offer a great option for manufacturing applications.

What is Kingpinless?

The Kingpinless caster design differs from the traditional kingpin style casters.

Kingpin casters are the most common caster throughout the industry. It uses a central kingpin to hold the swivel raceways and ball bearings together. The biggest problem with this design, is when the caster fails due to overloading and shock loads, which can cause the kingpin (commonly referred to as a nut and bolt) to stretch and/or break. The solution for these common issues is the kingpinless design. 

Kingpinless casters have eliminated the weakest link of the kingpin style caster. This is achieved by using a hardened steel inner and outer raceway and distributing the load to a single row of hardened ball bearings.

Types

We have 6 series of casters dedicated to Kingpinless:

  • Kingpinless Casters – includes 60 Series – Swivel and 61 Series – Rigid
  • Heavy Duty Kingpinless Casters – includes 70 Series – Swivel and 71 Series – Rigid. These casters have higher capacities than the 60 and 61 series and can handle heavier loads.
  • Super Heavy Duty Kingpinless Casters – includes 80 Series – Swivel and 81 Series – Rigid. These casters are the heaviest duty kingpinless option available at Barron Equipment that have a maximum load capacity of 8,000 lbs per caster.

The series that end in “0” are Swivel casters and the series that end in “1” and rigid casters. The higher the number, the heavier duty the caster. Your rigid caster sizes will need to match your swivel caster sizes if they are being used on the type of cart.

These series are available with our without brakes, in a variety of wheel materials (including polyurethane, cast iron, forged steel, phenolic and more), wheel diameters, top plate dimensions, as well as bearing types (roller vs. ball bearing).
