Loading Dock Stop and Go Traffic Lights
Benefits of Stop and Go Lights
These signal lights from Barron Equipment, designed with bright LED to ensure maximum visibility, provide an extra layer of safety for dock personnel and the truck driver. These lights indicate whether a loading dock is open and safe, or potentially a safety hazard. When the light is red meaning “stay away from the truck, or stay away from the dock,” the red is indicating to drivers and loading dock staff, reducing the risk of confusion and error.

Choosing the Right System
Some of the stop and go lights are single lights that can be mounted on the inside or the outside of the dock openings. There are other types of dock lights that are used both internally and externally and are linked together. How the Stop and Go Safety Light Set works, is when a truck is parked securely in the loading dock, the inside light is turned green, which indicates to the forklift driver that it is safe to enter the trailer. When the green light is on inside the building, the outside light is red, indicating that the truck should not move. After the truck is unloaded, the inside light is turned to red. This tells the forklift driver to stay away from the truck. Simultaneously, the outside light is turned green, providing recognizable direction to drivers and indicating it is now safe for the truck to pull away.
