Overview
When you need a dependable floor-mounted lifting solution for lighter loads without the cost or footprint of a heavier system, a pillar base rotating jib crane in the 1-ton range is often exactly the right fit. This self-supporting, 360° rotating design mounts to the floor using anchor bolts and the recommended foundation — or to an existing floor depending on crane specifications.
It's an economical solution ideal for processes that involve light assembly, welding, or any application where capacity and use requirements are on the lighter end. Available in capacities of 1/4 ton (500 lbs), 1/2 ton (1,000 lbs), and 1 ton (2,000 lbs), this workstation crane delivers smooth, controlled rotation across a customizable span — backed by an 11-year warranty.
Need more lifting power? This page covers the 351 series up to 2,000 lbs. For higher-capacity needs, see our HSI 351MD (3,000–4,000 lbs) or HSI 351HD (6,000–10,000 lbs) configurations.
Built to Last — Key Construction Features
What separates a quality floor-mounted jib crane from a disposable one is how it's built. This design includes:
- Heavy-duty assembly with reinforcing side plates for structural rigidity under repeated use
- Full plate-style gussets for maximum load distribution at the base
- Heavy-duty top thrust bearing with pressure-fitted housing for smooth, consistent rotation
- Heavy-duty roller cage featuring steel rollers, low-friction bearings, adjustable tension bolts, a keeper bar, and zerk fittings for long service life
- Anti-tip angles to prevent accidental head removal from impact, plus spacer rods to prevent head assembly plate flexing — built with safety in mind5
These features ensure that even in high-cycle workstation environments, this crane delivers reliable, low-maintenance performance over its lifespan.
Whether you're positioning parts at a welding station, supporting a small machining cell, or handling repetitive lifts in a maintenance bay, this rotating crane keeps workers safe and productive without overbuilding for the application.
Capacities, Spans & Mounting Options
This crane ships in three capacity ratings — 500 lbs (1/4 ton), 1,000 lbs (1/2 ton), and 2,000 lbs (1 ton) — making it easy to spec exactly the lifting power you need without paying for what you don't.
Standard spans and heights reach up to 30+ feet, with custom heights and spans available for non-standard facility requirements.
The base plate mounting style (Model 351) bolts the mast to the foundation using a base plate welded to the mast and reinforced with heavy-duty full plate gussets. It requires a single concrete pour and is convenient for relocation — a strong advantage for facilities that anticipate future layout changes. Custom base and bolt hole patterns are available upon request. Model numbers follow a straightforward format: 351-[Capacity in lbs]-[Span in ft]-[HUB in ft]. For example, a 1/2 ton crane with a 12-foot span and a 10-foot HUB would be ordered as model 351-1000-12-10.
Options & Accessories
Available accessories for the 351 series include:
- Tight Wire Kit (Festooning / "Tagline") for clean cable management
- C Track Flat Cable Festooning
- Rotation Stops to limit swing range
- Outdoor Application packages
- Hoist & Trolley Packages
- Template and Anchor Bolts
Motorized rotation — in both electric and air-powered versions — is available as an upgrade, and hand-geared rotation is also an option for applications where power-assisted swing is preferred.
Common Applications
This 1-ton-and-under workstation crane is a natural fit for a broad range of light- to medium-use industrial applications:
- Light assembly operations — Component positioning, parts staging, sub-assembly work
- Welding stations — Controlled piece positioning within a defined work radius
- Machine tending — Loading and unloading CNC, press, or other workstation equipment
- Maintenance departments — Repetitive equipment removal and reinstallation tasks
- Shipping & receiving areas — Lighter pallets, cartons, or component totes
- Small fabrication shops — Cost-effective crane coverage in tight spaces where larger systems aren't justified
