Three Series, Matched to Your Operating Temperature
POSI Series — Heat-resistant wheels and casters with silicone rubber tread and synthetic wheel center, up to 482°F. Silicone rubber retains its elasticity and cushioning properties at elevated temperatures — a significant advantage over standard rubber compounds that harden or crack under sustained heat. The result is quieter, more floor-protective movement in hot environments. The POSI is a strong choice for autoclave carts, pharmaceutical trolleys, and any application where floor protection and smooth operation matter alongside heat resistance.
POH Series — Nylon heat-resistant wheels and casters, up to 338°F. Nylon is inherently resistant to a broad range of chemicals, making this series suitable for environments that combine moderate heat with regular cleaning agent exposure. The POH is the entry-level heat-resistant configuration for laboratory, food processing, and sterilization equipment that operates below 338°F.
POHI Series — Nylon heat-resistant wheels and casters, up to 482°F. The POHI extends the POH’s nylon performance to the same 482°F ceiling as the POSI, but with the harder-wearing, more chemically resistant properties of nylon rather than silicone rubber. For applications where chemical exposure is heavy and floor impact is less of a concern, the POHI typically offers better durability per dollar over time.
Applications Across Food Processing, Pharma & Medical
Heat-resistant wheels and casters are frequently used for oven racks, racking trolleys, and autoclaves. The three series available through Barron map well to the following environments:
Pharmaceutical and Medical Sterilization — Autoclave carts must withstand both high-temperature steam and aggressive disinfectants through repeated sterilization cycles. The POSI Series (silicone rubber, 482°F) and POHI Series (nylon, 482°F) are both appropriate here — silicone for softer floor contact and lower noise, nylon for higher abrasion resistance and chemical compatibility.
Food Processing and Commercial Ovens — Equipment carts and racking trolleys used in ovens or hot-holding areas at temperatures up to 482°F benefit from the POSI or POHI depending on whether floor protection or chemical resistance takes priority. For moderate-heat food service applications below 338°F, the POH is an economical and chemically compatible option.
Laboratories and Medical Device Manufacturing — Controlled environments that combine chemical cleaning protocols with elevated ambient temperatures frequently specify the POH or POHI series. Both offer broad compatibility with laboratory disinfectants and cleaning agents in addition to their heat ratings.
Dip-and-Bake and Coating Lines — Parts-on-carts that pass through curing ovens or dip-coating processes require casters that survive repeated thermal cycles. The POSI and POHI configurations at 482°F cover most standard industrial curing temperatures.
