Hydraulic Dock Levelers

Advantages of Hydraulic Levelers

Hydraulic dock levelers are push-button activated and have the highest capacity available. They utilize fully powered raise and lip extension functions with hydraulic cylinders and individual or multi-unit hydraulic pump and motor stations. Hydraulic Dock Levelers are one of the most common solutions for dock spanning and virtually eliminate the possibility of free fall or other accidents due to enhanced safety features, such as in-line velocity fuses. These are electrically driven, and have a high capacity for heavy loads. The biggest advantage of hydraulic levelers is that they are ergonomically friendly. The operator of the leveler does very little pushing or pulling to retract the dock plate.

Because hydraulic systems are fully powered, they eliminate the physical effort required by mechanical levelers, reduce operator fatigue, and allow a single dock attendant to manage multiple positions efficiently. With capacities available from 20K all the way up to 120K CIR, hydraulic lineup covers virtually every loading dock requirement — from light-to-medium retail distribution to the most demanding heavy industrial operations.

Features and Benefits

All Poweramp hydraulic dock levelers share a foundation of proven features designed to improve safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability across every dock position:
Push-Button Operation A single push button activates the hydraulic pump, raising the platform and extending the lip automatically. No chains, no manual effort — just consistent, repeatable operation every cycle.
Free Fall Protection Every model in the hydraulic lineup is equipped with a velocity safety fuse built into the hoist cylinder. This prevents uncontrolled free fall of the loaded platform, protecting both dock workers and freight.
Hydraulic Lip Extension Fully hydraulic lip activation provides reliable lip extension even in adverse weather conditions or where debris accumulation could interfere with mechanical lip systems.
Low Maintenance Design Hydraulic levelers overall have a very low maintenance cost. The fully enclosed hydraulic systems, elevated pump and motor assemblies, and durable structural steel construction reduce the frequency and cost of service visits over the life of the equipment.
OSHA & ANSI MH 30.1 Compliance Every Poweramp hydraulic dock leveler conforms to OSHA requirements and is manufactured in compliance with the American National Standard of Safety Performance and Testing of Dock Leveling Devices (ANSI) MH 30.1.
Designed and Manufactured in the USA Poweramp has been manufacturing loading dock levelers in the USA since 1961. These premium levelers have been known as the strongest and most durable dock levelers in the industry providing a smooth and efficient loading process.
iDock 2.0 & myQ Integration Most models in the hydraulic lineup are available with iDock 2.0 Controls and a Connect Online option to connect to myQ Dock Management — giving operations teams real-time visibility into leveler activity, cycle counts, and maintenance history.

Choosing the Right Hydraulic Dock Leveler

Selecting the right hydraulic leveler comes down to four key factors: load capacity, frequency of use, feature requirements, and budget.
For high-volume, heavy-duty operations with demanding schedules and loads above 80K CIR, the PR Series is the industry benchmark. For facilities needing reliable push-button hydraulic performance at a moderate price point, the VH or EH Series offer strong value in the mid-capacity range. For lighter-duty applications or facilities upgrading from mechanical operation, the LHP Series delivers full hydraulic convenience at the most accessible price in the lineup. For food, pharmaceutical, cold storage, or any application where temperature control and dock cleanliness are critical, the VS Series is the purpose-built solution.
