Low Profile Flange Style Truck Lock

NOVA Low Profile Flange Style Truck Lock™ offers secure dock restraint with a bolt-in design, 7.5″ low height, and over 30,000 lbs of pull-away resistance.

Overview

The Flange Style is the bolt-in version of the low profile Truck Lock™. It shares the same rugged design and performance specs as the Cast-In Style — but with one important difference. The Bolt-In (Flange) Style housing is designed to be anchored into the concrete drive. This method provides years of trouble-free service without any damage to the building, unlike other restraints that attach to the dock wall. It also allows for easier movement to other dock positions in the event of required location changes. After the truck or trailer backs into position against the dock bumpers, the dock attendant switches the Truck Lock™ to the RESTRAIN position. The outside light turns red and the inside light turns green. After verifying the ram bar is above the rear impact guard, the attendant may enter the trailer. When loading or unloading is complete, the attendant switches to the RELEASE position, lowering the ram bar. The outside light turns green and the inside light turns red.

Features & Benefits

The Low Profile Flange Style delivers the same proven performance as the Cast-In version — rated at over 30,000 pounds of pull-away resistance, with a ram bar yield strength of 100,000 PSI — in a bolt-in housing that can be repositioned if your dock configuration changes. The housing and gussets are welded to a 25-inch long x 16-inch wide base plate of 36,000 PSI minimum yield strength steel. The housing is embedded into the approach with seven heavy-duty 5/8 x 5-inch long hex head anchor screws. That means it goes in without concrete embedding and comes out if it needs to move.

All activation components are mounted inside the building and protected from harsh environments and weather. The restraint will remain in position and can be released normally in the event of a loss of electricity. The environmentally friendly biodegradable fluid provides lubrication and prevents freezing under normal conditions.A qualified electrician is not required to install the Truck Lock™, as it is considered low voltage — however, always follow local ordinances and codes to determine actual site requirements. The drop cord can be plugged into any 120VAC 60Hz outlet and draws only 0.5 amps. Available in manual or powered (pneumatic) versions, standard LED lights provide long life and reduce electrical power consumption. This is the longest warranty in the industry.

Applications

The Flange Style is the right pick when you need the same ultra-low profile performance as the Cast-In Style, but want the flexibility to relocate the unit if dock assignments change. It works across a broad range of environments:

  • Facilities with evolving dock configurations — this style allows for easier movement to other dock positions in the event of required location changes, without damaging the approach or building
  • Docks serving lift gate trucks — the 7½-inch stored height is the lowest of any restraint in the industry, allowing service to a wider range of truck types
  • Steep decline or incline approaches — the low-profile bolt-in housing sits at grade and clears vehicles that approach at sharp angles
  • Metal buildings and open docks — optional stanchion and metal building mount kits allow installation without traditional wall or concrete embed requirements
  • Facilities requiring dock-leveler or door interlocks — the optional interlock cuts power to an overhead door or powered leveler. Until the ram bar is raised, the door or leveler cannot be operated. Once the restraint is raised, a relay inside the control box is energized, restoring power to the dock door or leveler

Selection Assistance

Choose the Flange Style when your operation values flexibility. It installs with bolt-in anchors rather than concrete embedding, so it can be removed and relocated if your dock layout changes. The Cast-In Style, by contrast, is a permanent installation.

Both styles share the same lifetime warranty. In addition to an Extended 5-Year General Warranty on the control box, the Truck Lock™ carries an Extended Limited Lifetime General Warranty for the duration of time the original purchaser owns the building. This applies to the ram housing assembly, ram bar, housing cover, console assembly, pulleys, cable, and brackets.

FAQs

What is the difference between the Flange Style and the Cast-In Style Truck Lock™?

The core performance specs are the same. The key difference is installation and flexibility. The Bolt-In (Flange) Style housing is designed to be anchored into the concrete drive. This method provides years of trouble-free service without damage to the building. It also allows for easier movement to other dock positions in the event of required location changes. The Cast-In Style is embedded 27" into the concrete and cannot be relocated.

Can the Flange Style Truck Lock™ be relocated after installation?

Yes — this is one of its primary advantages. The flange mount design can be relocated, making it a strong choice for facilities that may reconfigure their dock positions in the future or lease their space.

What is the stored height of the Low Profile Flange Style?

The 7½-inch version is the lowest stored height of any restraint in the industry, allowing service to a wider range of truck types. This makes it well-suited for lift gate trucks and docks with steep decline approaches.

Does the Flange Style require a licensed electrician to install?

A qualified electrician is not required to install a Truck Lock™, as it is considered low voltage — however, always follow local ordinances and codes to determine actual site requirements. The drop cord plugs into any 120VAC 60Hz outlet and draws only 0.5 amps.

What happens if power is lost while a trailer is secured?

The restraint will remain in position and can be released normally in the event of a loss of electricity. Your dock attendants can safely complete their work and release the trailer through the normal process once power is restored.

What is the warranty on the Low Profile Flange Style?

The Truck Lock™ carries an Extended 5-Year General Warranty on the control box, plus an Extended Limited Lifetime General Warranty valid for as long as the original purchaser owns the building. The lifetime warranty covers the ram housing assembly, ram bar, housing cover, console assembly, pulleys, cable, and brackets.

Can the Truck Lock™ Flange Style be interlocked with a dock leveler or overhead door?

Yes. The optional interlock cuts power to an overhead door or powered leveler. Until the ram bar is raised, the door or dock leveler cannot be operated. Once the restraint is raised and the inside green light is on, a relay inside the restraint control box is energized, restoring power to the dock door or leveler.
