Applications
Rubber sheeting rolls are intended for installations where a flexible, custom-cut material is needed to seal, protect, or cushion a door component — rather than a pre-formed seal that attaches to a specific door profile. The 50-foot bulk roll format allows the installer to cut the sheeting to exact lengths for the opening, door type, or component being protected. Common applications include:
- Rolling door header baffles — the most frequent application; sheeting wraps or pads the baffle at the top of a rolling steel door opening to seal the gap between the door and the header and reduce air and debris infiltration
- Hangar door seals — large aircraft hangar doors require custom-cut sealing material at the top and sides of the door opening; rubber sheeting provides the flexible, conformable coverage needed across these large spans
- Custom industrial door sealing — any overhead or sectional door application where the gap profile or door edge configuration does not match available pre-formed seals
- Impact and abrasion protection — sheeting can be applied as a cushioning or wear layer in door track areas, mechanical contact zones, or other locations subject to repeated compression and contact
- Outdoor and UV-exposed installations — the EPDM option is specifically suited for applications where the material is directly exposed to sunlight, ozone, or outdoor weathering, and where Neoprene's warranty limitations would apply
Selection Assistance
Three decisions drive the correct product selection: material, thickness, and reinforcement.
Material: Choose EPDM for any installation that will face UV exposure, outdoor conditions, or ozone-heavy environments. For applications where UV is an issue, EPDM rubber is recommended. Choose Neoprene for protected indoor applications such as interior rolling door header baffles where UV exposure is not a factor.
Thickness: The 1/16-inch Neoprene option is the thinner, more flexible choice — well suited for applications where the sheeting must conform tightly to a surface or fit within a tight clearance. The 1/8-inch option for both Neoprene and EPDM provides greater durability and compression resistance, and is the better choice for high-wear applications or areas subject to repeated contact.
Reinforcement: Reinforced sheeting provides additional durability; cloth inserted in the material adds stability where mechanical fastening is necessary. If the sheeting will be mechanically fastened with screws or rivets, select a reinforced option. If the sheeting will be adhesively bonded, compressed into a frame, or held in place without penetrating fasteners, the non-reinforced Neoprene options may be appropriate.
