Heavy Duty Pallet Curve with Chain Driven Tapered Rollers
Moving pallets through a 90-degree direction change under power requires a conveyor that can handle the weight, maintain pallet alignment, and deliver positive mechanical drive through the entire turn. Standard gravity curves rely on slope and momentum, which makes pallet speed and orientation unpredictable. Belt-driven and MDR curves are designed for cartons and totes, not the loads and forces involved in pallet transport. The Titan Model 595 is purpose-built for this application — a heavy duty chain driven live roller curve that uses large-diameter tapered rollers to guide pallets through a full 90-degree turn while maintaining consistent speed and proper orientation.
Tapered Rollers for Pallet Orientation Control
When a pallet enters a curve on cylindrical rollers, the outside edge of the pallet travels a longer path than the inside edge. This speed differential causes pallets to rotate, skew, or jam against the side rails. The Model 595 eliminates this problem with tapered rollers that are 4-1/4 in. in diameter on the large (outside) end and 2-1/2 in. on the small (inside) end. This taper matches the circumferential speed across the full width of the conveyor bed, keeping the pallet square and tracking straight throughout the turn.

Double Chain Drive for Positive Pallet Movement
The Model 595 uses a double #50 sidebow chain in a roll-to-roll drive configuration. This means every roller in the curve is positively driven by the chain — there is no reliance on friction, O-rings, or belt tension to transfer power. For heavy pallets, this is critical. Positive chain drive ensures that each roller turns at the correct speed regardless of load weight, preventing stalls, slippage, and pallet drift that can occur with friction-based drive methods. Optional #60 and #80 chain upgrades are available for applications that require even greater drive capacity.
Center Drive for Reversing Applications
The Model 595’s center-mounted drive allows the conveyor to run in either direction. This makes it suitable for systems that need to reverse pallet flow — such as production lines where pallets must be returned to a loading station, or flexible layouts where the direction of travel changes based on production scheduling. Reversing capability is not standard on most curve conveyors; the center drive design makes it a built-in feature on the 595.
Integration with Titan Straight CDLR Sections
The Model 595 is designed to integrate with Titan’s Model 525 and Model 535 chain driven live roller conveyors. These straight sections share compatible frame construction, chain drive specifications, roller sizing, and speed ratings, allowing system designers to build complete pallet-handling conveyor layouts using a single manufacturer and a consistent mechanical platform.
Common Options and Accessories
The Model 595 can be configured with a wide range of options including galvanized or stainless steel construction, variable frequency drives for speed control, pneumatic pin stops and pop-up stops, pallet lifts and pallet centering devices, fixed and adjustable side rails, skatewheel side rails, chain and belt transfers, emergency stops, photo eyes, walkway plates, casters, and ceiling hangers.
Applications
The Model 595 is specified in pallet-handling systems that require powered 90-degree direction changes. Common installations include manufacturing production lines with L-shaped or U-shaped pallet flow, automated palletizing and depalletizing systems, distribution center pallet transport around building columns and equipment, and any heavy duty conveyor layout where pallets must change direction under positive mechanical control.
Industries that use the Model 595 include food and beverage, consumer goods manufacturing, automotive, pharmaceutical, building materials, and third-party logistics.
