Overview
Edge-of-dock levelers are offered with either mechanical or hydraulic operation. Both models mount directly to the dock face. No pit excavation. No concrete work. They are a budget-friendly option for lighter-duty docks where trailers arrive consistently at or near dock height. Barron Equipment is an authorized Poweramp dealer with over 43 years of installation and service experience. We sell, install, and service EOD levelers across the Midwest — and we can help you find the right fit for your dock.
Features & Benefits
The mechanical EOD uses a dual extension spring system. It is the same proven design that has made it the industry's top-selling edge-of-dock leveler for years. The dock attendant raises the leveler, positions it to the truck bed, and releases. It is that simple. No electrical connection required. The hydraulic model goes a step further. Push-button activation raises the leveler and extends the lip automatically. Hydraulic lip lock keeps the lip firmly in contact with the trailer bed during loading, and the exclusive speed control adjusts how fast the leveler descends. This gives operators a smoother, more controlled experience at the dock.
Both models are easy to maintain. Lip hinge tubes include grease fittings, making simple lubrication easy and extending the life of the hinge components. A quick routine lube keeps the unit in good working order for years. A milled lip option is available, providing a smooth transition from the bed of the truck to the loading dock. This is a good upgrade for facilities using hand trucks or carts. The Never Lift option is also available for the mechanical model. It lets the dock attendant reposition the leveler without manually lifting it — reducing strain and saving time. Because the EOD mounts to the dock face and needs no pit, installation is faster and less costly than pit-style levelers. That makes it one of the most accessible loading dock leveler options available.
Applications
Poweramp EOD levelers work best where trailers arrive consistently at or near dock height and daily cycle counts are light to moderate. They are a strong fit for the following applications:
- Retail distribution and wholesale operations where trailers arrive at a consistent dock height and load volumes don't require heavy-duty pit levelers
- Light manufacturing facilities loading packaged goods, finished products, or standard component deliveries
- Facilities adding dock positions to an existing building without the budget or structural capacity for pit excavation
- Leased warehouse space where permanent pit construction isn't allowed under the lease agreement
- Budget-conscious dock upgrades replacing worn dock boards with a durable, installed leveler solution at a lower price point
- Captured fleet operations where the facility controls trailer specs and can ensure consistent trailer height at the dock
Selection Assistance
Choosing between the mechanical and hydraulic model comes down to two things: how you want the dock to operate and what your budget allows. The mechanical model is the most affordable option. It requires no electrical connection. It is durable, simple, and easy to operate. It is a great fit for lighter-duty docks where push-button controls aren't a priority. The hydraulic model adds push-button operation and more control over leveler speed. It is a better choice for higher-cycle docks or operations where reducing operator effort matters.
