Heavy-Duty Scrap Conveyor with SteelTrak Engineering
When the scrap your machines produce outgrows a 2½” pitch conveyor—heavier stampings, larger turnings, forging flash, die-cast sprues, or hot oily parts dropping from punch presses—the SteelTrak™ 750/751 steps up with a 4″ pitch belt, 10-gauge frame, and the kind of impact-resistant construction that keeps running in the most demanding metalworking environments. This is NLECO’s heavy-duty platform, built with the same TruTrak technology and SteelTrak quality standards as the 2½” pitch lineup but engineered at a fundamentally heavier scale.
The 750/751 competes in the same application space as the Titan Model 640 but brings NLECO’s unique engineering advantages: hardened flanged TruTrak rollers built into the belt, radial sidewings that reduce chip pinching, and impact tube axle construction that absorbs the shock of heavy parts dropping onto the belt.
Belt and Impact-Resistant Construction
The 750/751 uses a 4″ pitch hinged steel belt with a one-piece apron, 2⅜” high cleats on 24″ centers, and 3″ high sidewings. The 1¾” diameter hardened flanged rollers serve double duty: they provide smooth belt travel and function as built-in TruTrak belt tracking, keeping the belt centered in its track without the side-to-side sway that damages frames and accelerates wear on conventional conveyors.
The ½” diameter axle with impact tube is a critical construction detail for heavy-duty applications. When large parts, stampings, or forgings drop onto the belt from height—common in press discharge, forging hammer, and die-casting operations—the impact tube absorbs and distributes the shock load across the axle rather than concentrating it at the roller bearing point. This extends axle life and reduces the frequency of bearing and roller replacement in high-impact environments.
Outside sidebars are standard on the 750/751, providing the chain pull capacity needed for wider belts and heavier loads.
Two Drive Shaft Options: 750 vs. 751
The SteelTrak 750 and 751 share the same belt, frame, sprockets, and roller construction. The difference is the drive shaft. The Model 751 uses a 1-15/16″ diameter drive shaft with a 1-11/16″ infeed shaft—the standard heavy-duty configuration suitable for most 4″ pitch applications. The Model 750 upgrades to a 2-15/16″ drive shaft with a 1-15/16″ infeed shaft, supporting higher horsepower motors, heavier belt loads, and longer conveyor runs.
Choose the 751 for standard heavy-duty applications where the run length and load are within normal parameters. Choose the 750 when the application demands maximum drive capacity—long horizontal runs, steep inclines under heavy load, or motor requirements above what the 751’s shaft can support.
Frame and Width Specifications
The frame is 15¼” deep, formed from 10-gauge steel—substantially heavier than the 12-gauge frames used on the 2½” pitch SteelTrak models. Standard belt widths include 12″, 18″, 24″, 30″, 36″, 48″, and 60″ with custom widths available. The 6-tooth sprocket with an 8″ pitch diameter provides positive belt engagement even under maximum load.
The standard drive is ½ HP (230/460V, 3-phase, 60 Hz, TEFC), top mount on the right side, at 30 FPM. Standard curves include 30, 45, and 60 degrees. Z-shape, L-shape, and horizontal configurations are available.
Applications for the 750/751
The 750/751 is specified for forging operations producing hot flash, trim, and scrap, stamping press discharge of heavy blanks, slugs, and formed parts, die-casting sprue and runner removal, punch press scrap and parts handling, foundry operations, heavy machining operations producing large turnings or castings, and any application where parts or scrap are hot, oily, heavy, or drop with impact onto the conveyor belt.
SteelTrak 750/751 vs. Titan 640
Both conveyors use a 4″ pitch belt, 10-gauge frame, and 8″ P.D. sprockets. The differences are in the engineering details. The SteelTrak 750/751 includes hardened flanged TruTrak rollers as standard, impact tube axle construction, radial sidewings, and the full SteelTrak accessory ecosystem. The Titan 640 uses cast iron flanged rollers, 7-gauge sidebars, and Titan’s frame and drive construction approach. Belt widths are comparable (Titan goes to 72″; SteelTrak to 60″).
The best choice depends on the specific application, facility preferences, and whether TruTrak belt tracking, impact tube axle construction, or specific SteelTrak accessories are important to the installation. Barron Equipment represents both manufacturers and can help evaluate which platform fits your application.
Options and Accessories
The 750/751 supports the full SteelTrak accessory catalog: perforated and pimpled belt surfaces, radial sidewings, impact bars (top and bottom mounted), recessed and cut-back cleats, center land dividers, top covers, automatic chain oilers, bolt-on bottom pans, drain plugs, liquid-tight bottom pans, drain holes, access panels, quench tanks, marine bearings, side-mounted drive, custom infeed hoppers, discharge chutes, floor supports, castered floor supports with floor locks, and custom paint.
