Overview

Barron Equipment and Overhead Door provides a line of drum heaters — silicone rubber band heaters built to heat steel and polyethylene drums quickly and evenly. These drum heaters solve a wide range of freeze protection, viscosity control, and process temperature applications. A drum heater band wraps around the outside of a drum and delivers consistent heat to the material stored inside, making it a practical tool for facilities that need contents at a workable temperature before dispensing or processing.

The thermostat set-point is easily adjustable from 50 to 425 degrees Fahrenheit for steel drums, and from 50 to 160 degrees Fahrenheit on poly drums. Each unit comes with a 6-foot-long grounded 3-prong power cord. Units are recommended for use with GFCI outlets only. Models with the -CA suffix carry CSA approval for use in Canada.

Features & Benefits

Each drum heater features an extra-wide 4-inch silicone rubber band that is moisture and chemical resistant. The multi-stranded grounded heating element provides uniform heat and a long service life. The spring closure can be expanded 3 inches, making it easier to fit the drum heater band onto drums without forcing the unit. Using multiple heaters on a single drum may also reduce heat stratification of the material being heated.

The 55 gallon drum heater is CE approved and carries a 1-year limited warranty. The chemical and moisture resistance of the silicone band helps the heater perform reliably in industrial settings where exposure to liquids, oils, and other substances is part of everyday use.

Applications

These drum heaters are used in cold environments, farming and agriculture operations, municipalities, superstores, train stations, and warehouses — wherever temperature-sensitive materials are stored in drums and need to be maintained or brought to a workable state. Common applications include:

  1. Warehouses where viscous materials need to be thinned before dispensing
  2. Cold storage areas where drum contents are at risk of freezing
  3. Agriculture operations storing liquid chemicals or fertilizers in bulk drums
  4. Municipalities managing outdoor or unheated material storage
  5. Transit and train station facilities handling materials in temperature-variable environments
  6. Distribution centers maintaining consistent product flow from drum-stored materials

A drum heater is most useful when low temperatures cause stored materials to thicken or solidify. Oils, adhesives, resins, paints, and similar products can become difficult or impossible to pump when cold. A 55 gallon drum heater quickly and efficiently heats steel drums or pails, bringing material to a usable temperature without relocating the drum or using immersion equipment. This supports consistent dispensing and reduces downtime in year-round operations.

Selection Assistance

Barron Equipment and Overhead Door offers expert guidance to help customers choose the right product for their application. Product specialists can recommend the proper model based on drum size, material type, and temperature requirements.

The DRH series includes models sized for 15-gallon, 30-gallon, and 55-gallon drums. For poly drums, the thermostat is rated to a maximum of 160°F to protect the container. For steel drums, the full range up to 425°F is available. If your facility is located in Canada, look for -CA suffix models, which carry CSA approval for that market.
