Overview
Barron Equipment supplies the Action Industries Excalibur, a solid aluminum garage door threshold seal built for commercial and industrial environments where standard weatherstripping alone cannot close the gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. The Excalibur mounts directly to the garage floor beneath the door and creates a raised, weather-tight contact point for the door’s bottom seal to press against when the door is closed.
Unlike rubber or vinyl threshold strips that can shift, compress, or degrade under heavy equipment traffic, the Excalibur is constructed from solid aluminum that holds its position under the weight of forklifts, tow motors, and daily vehicle traffic. The V-groove surface pattern provides skid-resistant traction across the threshold, and an integrated underside cable channel allows clean routing of sensor or safety-edge wiring without exposing it to damage from rolling equipment.
Specifications
The Excalibur threshold is available in two widths — 4 inch and 6 inch — and multiple pre-cut lengths: 8′-2″, 10′-2″, 12′-4″, and 16′-4″. The profile height is 1/2 inch, which aligns with ADA threshold guidelines for accessibility. Pre-drilled mounting holes are spaced 24 inches apart across the length of the threshold. Each kit includes the Excalibur threshold, adhesive (1–2 tubes depending on length), and sleeve anchor flathead bolts for concrete floor installation. The threshold is compatible with sectional, rolling steel, hangar, and other commercial door types.
Applications
The Excalibur is designed for facilities where the gap between the garage door bottom and the floor creates persistent problems with water infiltration, wind-driven debris, dust, pest entry, or energy loss. Common applications include warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing plants, fire stations, vehicle maintenance bays, aircraft hangars, and any commercial or industrial opening with high traffic volume. The threshold works in combination with the door’s bottom seal and retainer to create a tighter barrier than either component can achieve on its own — especially on uneven concrete surfaces where the door bottom cannot make consistent contact with the floor.
Installation
Clean the concrete floor surface where the threshold will be mounted. Position the Excalibur across the door opening and verify alignment before marking the anchor bolt locations through the pre-drilled holes. Apply the included adhesive to the underside of the threshold, then set it in position. Secure with the sleeve anchor flathead bolts into the concrete. Allow the adhesive to fully cure before operating the door over the threshold. After installation, confirm the door’s bottom seal makes consistent contact with the top of the threshold across the full width of the opening.
Selection Assistance
Choosing the right threshold width depends on the size of the gap between your door bottom and the floor and the amount of traffic the threshold needs to handle. The 4 inch width is suitable for most standard residential and commercial doors. The 6 inch width provides a wider contact surface for larger commercial and industrial doors or applications with greater floor unevenness.
The Excalibur is designed to work together with a bottom seal and retainer system. If you’re replacing a worn threshold, verify your door’s bottom seal is also in good condition — a new threshold paired with a damaged bottom seal will not create a complete barrier. Barron Equipment can help you evaluate whether a threshold, bottom seal, retainer, or combination of all three is needed for your application.
