Overview
Barron Equipment supplies the Action Industries A1250 flat aluminum bottom seal retainer, designed to bolt directly to the bottom edge of 1-1/4 inch thick garage doors. Unlike L-shaped and U-shaped bottom retainers that use a side-mounted plate, the A1250 mounts flush to the bottom of the door for a slimmer, lower-profile installation. This makes it a practical choice when clearance between the door bottom and the floor is tight or when a streamlined appearance is preferred.
The flat profile creates a secure channel for 1/4 inch T-end bottom seals, holding the weatherstripping firmly in place to block drafts, moisture, debris, leaves, insects, and small pests. Built from high-strength aluminum in a mill finish, the A1250 resists corrosion, warping, and bending under daily use. It is available in eight pre-cut lengths from 5′-1″ to 18′-4″ to fit virtually any standard residential or commercial garage door.
Compatible Seals
The A1250 accepts 1/4 inch (0.25″) T-end and T-style bottom seals from Action Industries. Compatible seal types include T-end rubber seals, T-style vinyl seals, Xcluder rodent-blocking seals, and bulb seals. The retainer channel is designed for single-track seals with a 1/4 inch T-end insertion profile. If your door currently uses a different seal attachment style, Barron’s product team can help identify the correct retainer and seal match from a photo or measurement.
Applications
The A1250 flat bottom retainer is designed for 1-1/4 inch thick garage doors, including overhead doors, wood garage doors, vinyl garage doors, and commercial sectional doors. Its flush-mount design is especially useful on doors where the bottom panel edge is flat and unobstructed, and where a low-profile retainer is preferred over an L-shaped or U-shaped alternative. The retainer can also be paired with a garage door threshold seal mounted to the floor for additional weatherproofing on uneven surfaces or in areas with heavy rain or snow exposure.
Available Lengths
The A1250 retainer is available in mill finish aluminum in eight pre-cut lengths: 5′-1″, 8′-2″, 9′-2″, 10′-2″, 12′-4″, 14′-4″, 16′-4″, and 18′-4″. The aluminum can be cut to length with standard tools for non-standard door widths. For custom sizes, Barron Equipment can coordinate with Action Industries to cut retainers to your exact specifications.
Installation
The A1250 is designed for straightforward DIY installation. Position the flat retainer along the bottom edge of the door panel with the channel facing down and the retainer sitting flush against the door surface. Drill fastener holes through the retainer body between the channels, spacing screws approximately every 12 inches. Use fasteners appropriate for your door material — wood screws for wood doors, self-tapping screws for metal doors. Once the retainer is secured, slide the compatible T-end seal into the channel and confirm the seal makes even contact with the floor or threshold when the door is closed. After cutting aluminum to length, remove any burrs before inserting the seal.
Selection Assistance
Choosing the right bottom retainer depends on your door thickness, the retainer profile shape, and the bottom seal type your door requires. The A1250 is a flat-profile retainer for 1-1/4 inch thick doors. If your door is thinner (1/2 inch), the A1550 L-shaped retainer may be a better fit. If your door is thicker (1-3/4 inch or 2 inches), other L-shaped or U-shaped retainers from the Action Industries lineup are available.
Not sure which retainer your door needs? Send Barron Equipment a photo of your existing bottom retainer with a tape measure in the frame. Include a close-up of the retainer profile and a wider shot showing how it mounts to the door. Our team can identify the correct replacement and recommend a compatible bottom seal.
