Overview
Barron Equipment supplies the Action Industries Flex Brush weather seal, a polypropylene brush seal engineered for commercial and industrial door systems where traditional metal-backed brush corrodes, stiffens, or fails prematurely. The metal-free backing eliminates rust and corrosion concerns in moisture-prone environments while keeping the seal lightweight enough to coil, ship, and store on reels for easy jobsite deployment.
This garage door brush weather seal fits into a standard #4 channel retainer and seals the sides and top of overhead doors against air infiltration, dust, debris, pests, and light exposure. It is available by the foot for single-door projects or on 100- and 200-foot reels for multi-door installations and truck stock replenishment.
Why Installers and Dealers Choose This Brush Seal
Traditional metal-backed brush seals rely on a steel spine that can rust or corrode in wet, humid, or chemical-exposure environments. The Flex Brush design replaces that metal spine with a flexible polypropylene backing. The brush filaments are extruded directly into the backing rather than crimped around a metal rod, which means there is no metal component in the finished seal to degrade over time. This construction makes it well suited for loading docks, wash-down areas, coastal facilities, food-processing plants, and any opening exposed to ongoing moisture.
The flexible profile also provides practical advantages for field work. Unlike rigid stick brush that ships in fixed-length sections, the Flex Brush coils onto reels and can be cut to length on-site with standard tools. This reduces waste, simplifies inventory for service trucks, and speeds up installation across multiple doors in a single trip.
Compatible Applications
This weather seal is designed for the sides and top of overhead door openings where a brush seal provides the most effective barrier. Typical installations include commercial sectional garage doors, rolling steel doors, self-storage unit doors, loading dock perimeters, and warehouse openings. The seal creates a dense barrier of polypropylene filaments that block air movement, dust, and small pests while still allowing the door to open and close without resistance.
For residential garage doors, Barron also carries the Slim-Line Flex Brush, which uses a #2.5 channel retainer profile suited for smaller residential door frames. Contact Barron’s product specialists if you need help determining which profile fits your door system.
Ordering and Packaging
The Flex Brush weather seal is sold by the foot for custom-length orders or on pre-wound reels for volume purchasing. Select your bristle size at the time of ordering based on the gap you need to seal. By-the-foot orders ship as a single continuous piece in the footage quantity specified. Reel orders are available in 100-foot and 200-foot lengths for dealers and installers who stock material for multiple projects.
Installation
Cut the Flex Brush to length using a standard utility knife or shears. Slide the polypropylene backing into the existing #4 channel retainer mounted on the door frame or jamb. The seal should compress slightly against the door surface when closed without preventing smooth door operation. No special tools, adhesives, or fasteners are required beyond the retainer channel itself. For new installations where no retainer is present, Barron Equipment carries compatible aluminum retainers and mounting hardware.
