Heavy Duty Platform Truck – 2,400 Lb Capacity – 30 In. x 54 In. Steel Deck

Lead Time: 3 days

From $641.55

Overview

When the job calls for moving heavy boxes, building materials, equipment, and furniture across a warehouse floor, loading dock, or commercial facility, a lightweight cart is not going to cut it. This heavy duty platform truck is built for those maximum-demand transport tasks. With a 2,400 lb load capacity and a full-size 30″ x 54″ steel deck reinforced with 12-gauge internal steel ribs, it handles the kind of concentrated, heavy loads that would flex or damage a standard flatbed cart.

The robotically welded steel platform is powder-coated for corrosion resistance and coated with anti-skid polyvinyl to grip loads and protect surfaces. A removable push handle provides steering control during transport and lifts out for flat storage when space is limited. Two caster configurations — fixed/swivel and all-swivel — let you match this heavy duty platform truck to your facility’s transport routes. Every unit is manufactured by Raymond Products in Minneapolis, Minnesota with a lifetime warranty.

Features and Benefits

The platform deck is constructed from steel and reinforced with 12-gauge internal steel ribs. This rib-reinforced design distributes heavy loads evenly across the full deck surface and prevents flexing under maximum capacity. The robotic welding process ensures consistent joint strength across every unit — a level of manufacturing precision that stamped or spot-welded alternatives cannot match.

The deck surface is coated with red anti-skid polyvinyl, which serves as both a load grip and a protective cushion. Items placed on the deck stay in position during transport, and the vinyl layer prevents scratches and surface damage to the materials being moved. The powder-coated steel base resists chips, corrosion, and the daily wear of industrial and commercial environments.

The 5″ x 2″ phenolic casters are designed for hard, smooth floors including concrete, industrial tile, and polished surfaces. Phenolic wheels resist oil, grease, and mild chemicals, making them durable enough for warehouse receiving docks, manufacturing floors, and maintenance corridors. A removable push handle extends 31¼” above the deck for comfortable steering control, and a retaining end (31¾” high) helps keep loads from sliding off the back of the platform during movement. Optional brake kits are available for facilities that need secure stationary positioning during loading and unloading.

Available Models

  • Model 3950 – 2 Fixed / 2 Swivel Casters — The standard configuration for facilities with longer, straighter transport routes. The fixed rear casters provide straight-line tracking while the swivel front casters allow steering. Shipping weight: 106 lbs.
  • Model 3954 – 4 Swivel Casters — Maximum maneuverability for facilities with tight turns, narrow aisles, and crowded work areas where the heavy duty platform truck needs to change direction frequently.

Both models share the same 2,400 lb capacity, 30″ x 54″ rib-reinforced steel deck, anti-skid polyvinyl coating, removable push handle, and powder-coated finish. Ships knocked down (KD) via truck freight in one carton.

Applications

Warehouse and distribution teams are the primary users of this heavy duty platform truck. Receiving dock crews use it to move palletized cartons, crated equipment, and bulk supplies from the dock to storage locations throughout the facility. Manufacturing floors rely on it to shuttle raw materials, finished goods, and heavy tooling between workstations. The 2,400 lb capacity and rib-reinforced deck handle the kind of dense, concentrated loads — stacked lumber, steel plate, boxed machinery — that smaller carts cannot support safely.

Schools and universities use this platform truck to transport staging equipment, athletic supplies, and heavy furniture between buildings and storage areas. Hotels and convention centers move banquet supplies, stacked chairs, and event staging across loading areas and service corridors. Construction and trades teams rely on the large 30″ x 54″ deck to carry building materials, fixtures, and job-site supplies from trucks to work areas. Maintenance crews across all industries depend on it as a daily workhorse for heavy, bulky, and irregular loads that do not fit on smaller carts.

Selection Assistance

Choose this heavy duty platform truck when your loads regularly approach or exceed 1,000 lbs and your transport routes include warehouse floors, loading docks, manufacturing areas, or long facility corridors. The fixed/swivel Model 3950 is the best fit for facilities where most transport runs are straight-line or involve long distances. The all-swivel Model 3954 is better for tight spaces, narrow aisles, and environments where the truck needs to change direction frequently.

If your facility needs a smaller platform truck for tight spaces and lighter loads, the compact Mini Heavy Duty Platform Truck (850 lb capacity, 36″ x 24″ deck with brakes) provides the same rib-reinforced construction in a more maneuverable package. For even heavier loads or noise-sensitive environments, Raymond also offers 8″ quiet poly caster configurations in the 3957/3958 and 3967/3968 models with dual handles.

FAQs

How much weight can this heavy duty platform truck carry?

Both the Model 3950 and Model 3954 are rated at 2,400 lbs. The steel deck is reinforced with 12-gauge internal steel ribs to prevent flexing under maximum capacity loads.

What is the difference between Model 3950 and 3954?

The Model 3950 uses 2 fixed and 2 swivel casters for better straight-line tracking over longer distances. The Model 3954 uses 4 swivel casters for maximum maneuverability in tight spaces and around corners.

Can I add brakes to this platform truck?

Yes. Optional brake kits are available and can be added to provide secure stationary positioning during loading, unloading, and parking. Brakes are recommended for facilities with inclines, ramps, or loading docks.

Can I remove the push handle?

Yes. The push handle is removable, allowing the heavy duty platform truck to be stored flat or used as an open platform when the handle is not needed.

What type of floors are the phenolic casters suited for?

The 5" x 2" phenolic casters roll best on hard, smooth surfaces including concrete, industrial tile, and polished flooring. They resist oil, grease, and mild chemicals. For noise-sensitive environments or polished floors where a quieter roll is preferred, Raymond offers 8" quiet poly caster configurations in separate models.

Is this heavy duty platform truck made in the USA?

Yes. Every Raymond Products platform truck is manufactured in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where they have been building material handling equipment since 1958. Each unit carries a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
