Overview
Barron Equipment supplies the Action Industries A7082 large aluminum weather seal retainer, engineered with a 45-degree mounting profile for top and side installations on commercial and industrial garage doors. This retainer serves as the mounting channel for compatible large weather seals, holding them securely in position to close gaps between the door and the surrounding header and jambs.
The 45-degree angle positions the seal toward the door surface, creating effective contact when the door is closed. This makes it well-suited for sectional overhead doors, where the retainer must direct the seal inward at the top and along the sides of the opening. Constructed from corrosion-resistant aluminum, the retainer delivers long-term performance in demanding commercial environments without the risk of rust or degradation.
Compatible Weather Seals and Retainer Channel
This retainer features a #7 Large channel that accepts the full range of Action Industries Large weather seals. Compatible seal types include Large EPDM rubber seals, Large brush seals, Large Weatherblock hybrid seals, and Large flex brush seals. Standard and Slim-Line seals are not compatible with this retainer profile. If you are unsure which retainer is installed on your door, Barron’s product specialists can determine the correct match from a photo, measurement, or door model number.
Applications
Large-format weather seal retainers are designed for oversized sealing applications where standard retainers cannot adequately close the gap. Common installations include commercial overhead doors, industrial rolling steel doors, aircraft hangar doors, warehouse entries, and any application where excessive gaps between the door edge and the building frame require a larger sealing system. The A7082 is particularly effective on sectional and overhead-style garage doors due to its angled profile, which directs the installed seal to maintain consistent contact with the door panel across the full perimeter.
Available Lengths and Custom Fabrication
The A7082 retainer is available in mill finish aluminum in multiple pre-cut lengths to fit virtually any door size. Standard sections include 5′-1″, 8′-2″, 9′-2″, 10′-2″, 14′-4″, 16′-4″, and 18′-4″ lengths. For door sizes that fall outside of these standard options, Barron Equipment can work with Action Industries to provide custom-cut retainers to your exact specifications. Installation Tips
Before beginning the installation, confirm that the 45-degree profile orientation matches your door configuration and that the retainer will position the weather seal toward the door for proper contact. Measure the total mounting area and plan your retainer sections before cutting. Dry-fit each section and verify the angled orientation before fastening. When more than one section is required, align the adjoining pieces carefully to maintain a continuous channel. Use appropriate fasteners for the mounting surface material, and after cutting any aluminum sections, remove sharp edges or burrs to ensure the weather seal can move freely through the retainer.
Selection Assistance
Choosing the right weather seal retainer depends on three key factors: the retainer profile, the mounting position, and the type of seal your door requires. The A7082 is designed for top and side mounting where a 45-degree angle is needed to direct the seal toward the door. If your application calls for a straight or 90-degree profile, or if your door uses a standard #4 or slim-line #2.5 channel, a different retainer may be required.
