Overview
Standard panel movers and movers dollies work well in open facilities, but narrow hallways, tight storage rooms, crowded aisles, and older buildings with limited clearance demand a slimmer profile. This narrow mover dolly delivers 1,500 lbs of load capacity in a platform that is only 16¼” wide — slim enough to pass through spaces where standard 27½” and 30″ wide movers dollies simply cannot fit.
Built from 14-gauge steel reinforced with 12-gauge steel ribs, coated in anti-skid polyvinyl, and equipped with removable end uprights, this dolly for movers handles drywall, plywood, office panels, doors, and sheet goods with the same rib-reinforced construction as the full-size heavy duty models — just in a narrower package. Every unit is manufactured by Raymond Products in Minneapolis, Minnesota with a lifetime warranty.
Features and Benefits
The 16¼” wide platform is the defining advantage of this mover dolly. At nearly half the width of the standard panel movers, it fits through doorways, narrow aisles, crowded storage areas, and older building corridors that would be inaccessible to wider equipment. The 54″ length provides a full-size carrying surface for standard sheet materials, meaning you sacrifice width — not capacity — when you need a narrower footprint.
The platform base is constructed from 14-gauge steel reinforced with 12-gauge steel ribs, delivering the same rib-reinforced structural rigidity found in the larger heavy duty movers dollies. This construction prevents flexing under heavy, concentrated loads and supports the full 1,500 lb capacity without compromise. The deck surface is coated with red anti-skid polyvinyl, which grips the load to prevent shifting and cushions materials against scratches and surface damage. The powder-coated steel base resists corrosion and withstands daily commercial and industrial use.
Two removable end uprights keep panels, sheets, and flat materials in an upright position during transport. When the uprights are not needed, they lift out for a flat, open platform. The 5″ phenolic casters are durable, non-marking, and suited for hard, smooth floors including concrete, industrial tile, and polished surfaces.
Available Models
- Model 3985 – 5″ Phenolic, 2 Fixed / 2 Swivel — Better straight-line tracking for longer transport runs through corridors and between buildings.
- Model 3986 – 5″ Phenolic, All Swivel — Maximum maneuverability for tight turns, narrow aisles, and confined storage areas where steering flexibility matters most.
Both models share the same 1,500 lb capacity, 16¼” x 54″ rib-reinforced platform, anti-skid polyvinyl coating, and removable end uprights.
Applications
Professional movers use this narrow dolly for movers to transport mattresses, headboards, bed frames, and large furniture through apartment hallways, narrow stairwell landings, and tight residential doorways that standard movers dollies cannot navigate. The slim profile and 1,500 lb capacity handle the heaviest residential and commercial loads without forcing workers to carry items by hand through constrained spaces.
Schools and churches with narrow hallways and older building layouts use this mover dolly to move room dividers, folding tables, and storage materials between rooms without blocking traffic flow. Maintenance departments in hospitals, hotels, and government buildings rely on it for daily transport of supplies, partitions, and equipment through service corridors. Construction crews and trades teams use the narrow profile to move drywall, plywood, and sheet goods through job sites with tight framing, unfinished corridors, and limited staging areas.
Selection Assistance
Choose this narrow mover dolly when your transport routes include passages narrower than 27″ or when you need to navigate tight aisles, crowded storage rooms, or older buildings with limited clearance. If your facility has wider corridors and you need more carrying surface, the standard Panel Mover (27½” wide, 2,400 lb) or the Heavy Duty Panel and Sheet Mover (30″ wide, 3,200 lb) provides a larger platform with higher capacity.
The fixed/swivel Model 3985 is best for facilities where most transport runs are straight-line through corridors. The all-swivel Model 3986 is better for tight turns, confined storage areas, and environments where the dolly needs to change direction frequently within narrow spaces.
