Overview
Standard stacked chair dollies work well in open spaces — but many schools, churches, and event venues have narrow service corridors, tight doorways, and hallways lined with lockers or display cases where a full-width dolly won’t fit. The Model 550 is purpose-built for these tight spaces. With a 10⅜” frame width, it navigates standard 36″ doorways and narrow back-of-house corridors that wider chair dollies block.
Rated at 240 lbs, this narrow stacked chair dolly moves up to 16 stacked chairs in a single trip — turning a multi-trip, two-person job into a one-person operation. Four 8″ x 1¾” skid-resistant rubber wheels roll smoothly over carpet, tile, concrete, and door thresholds. The heavy-gauge welded steel frame with powder-coated finish handles daily institutional use. Bonded vinyl handle provides a slip-resistant grip. Ships via ground with some simple assembly required. Weighs 32 lbs. Every unit is manufactured by Raymond Products in Minneapolis, Minnesota with a lifetime warranty.
Features and Benefits
The narrow 10⅜” frame width is the defining feature. Where the standard Model 500 stacked chair dolly accommodates wider chair bases, the 550 is specifically designed for narrow-base stacking chairs — the kind commonly found in classrooms, fellowship halls, and conference rooms with chair base widths under 18 inches. This narrower profile means the loaded dolly fits through tighter openings without turning sideways or removing chairs.
The four 8″ rubber wheels provide stability and smooth rolling across mixed floor surfaces. The 8″ diameter clears carpet transitions, door thresholds, and elevator gaps without catching. Rubber tread is non-marring — safe for gymnasium floors, polished hallways, and commercial tile. The full-penetration welded steel frame and powder-coated finish resist chips, scratches, and rust for years of daily use in institutional environments.
Applications
School custodial teams clearing classrooms and cafeterias for cleaning, testing, or events are the primary users. The narrow frame navigates hallways crowded with lockers and display cases. Churches and community centers use it for fellowship hall setup and teardown — one volunteer handles what previously required two. Hotels and event venues use it for banquet staff reconfiguring meeting rooms through standard service corridors. Office facilities managers use it for conference room and training space rearrangement.
Selection Assistance
Choose the Model 550 when your stacking chairs have narrow bases (under 18″ wide) and your facility has tight doorways or narrow corridors. If your chairs have standard or wide bases and your doorways accommodate a wider dolly, the Model 500 provides the same 240 lb capacity in a standard-width frame.
For folding chairs (not stacking chairs), the Model 900 series hanging chair storage trucks provide vertical hanging transport for higher chair counts. For combined chair and table transport, the Model 3780 moves round tables and chairs together.
