Overview
Barron Equipment supplies the Action Industries A2082 Slim-Line aluminum weatherstripping retainer with a 45-degree mounting profile for top and side seal installations on residential and light commercial garage doors. This compact retainer uses a #2.5 slim-line channel to hold compatible slim-line weather seals in place, closing the natural gaps between the door panel and the header and jambs.
The 45-degree angle presses the seal toward the exterior of the door at an angle, maintaining consistent contact when the door is fully closed. Built from solid heavy-duty aluminum with a 0.75 inch mounting face and 0.90 inch overall profile, the A2082 provides a durable yet economical alternative to standard and large retainer systems. Its compact dimensions make it the go-to choice when a smaller profile is all that’s needed to get the job done.
Compatible Seals and Retainer Channel
The A2082 uses a #2.5 slim-line channel, which is the smallest retainer size in the Action Industries lineup. This channel is designed exclusively for slim-line weather seals, including slim-line brush seals, vinyl seals, flex brush seals, and bulb seals. Standard (#4 channel) and Large (#7 channel) seals are not compatible with this retainer. If your door has larger gaps that require a wider seal, consider the A0082 Standard or A7082 Large retainer instead. Barron’s product team can confirm your channel size from a photo or measurement.
Available Finishes and Lengths
The A2082 retainer is available in mill and bronze finishes. Mill finish is available in the widest range of pre-cut lengths: 8′-2″, 9′-2″, 10′-2″, 12′-4″, 16′-4″, and 18′-4″. Bronze finish is available in 18′-4″ lengths. White finish is also available in 18′-4″ lengths. The retainer can be trimmed with a standard hand saw to fit your exact installation area, and Barron can also coordinate custom-cut lengths through Action Industries for non-standard door sizes.
Applications
Slim-Line retainers are ideal for residential garage doors and smaller commercial doors where a compact weatherstripping profile is sufficient. Common applications include single and double car garage doors, sectional overhead doors, wood doors, and doors from brands like Clopay and Wayne Dalton. The 45-degree profile works best on top and side installations where the seal needs to contact the face of the door at an angle. By sealing these perimeter gaps, the retainer and seal combination helps prevent drafts, dust, moisture, insects, and small pests from entering the garage or building interior.
Installation
The A2082 is designed for straightforward DIY installation. Confirm the 45-degree profile orientation before fastening so the installed seal will contact the door surface correctly. Measure the full mounting area, and dry-fit each retainer section before drilling. When covering an opening longer than a single section, align adjoining pieces to maintain a consistent seal path. After trimming the aluminum to length, remove any sharp edges or burrs to ensure the seal slides smoothly through the channel. Fasten to the door jambs with appropriate hardware for the mounting surface.
Selection Assistance
Choosing between Slim-Line, Standard, and Large retainers comes down to the size of the gap your door needs sealed and the retainer channel already installed on your door. The A2082 Slim-Line is the most compact and economical option, designed for residential doors and lighter-duty applications with smaller gaps. If your gaps are too wide for a slim-line seal, a Standard #4 retainer (A0082) or Large #7 retainer (A7082) may be needed.
