Overview
Barron Equipment supplies the Slim-Line Flex Brush weather seal from Action Industries, a low-profile brush sealing solution designed for commercial door applications with limited mounting space or narrow sealing clearances. The flexible, metal-free polypropylene spine slides into any compatible #2.5 slim-line retainer and conforms to uneven surfaces and varying gaps along the sides and top of the door opening.
Unlike traditional metal-backed brush seals that can rust, corrode, and resist bending around irregular surfaces, the Slim-Line Flex Brush uses an all-polypropylene construction that eliminates corrosion concerns entirely. The bristles resist freezing and sticking in wet or cold conditions, making this seal suitable for moisture-prone environments, cold storage facilities, and outdoor-exposed door openings. The lightweight construction also simplifies handling and reduces shipping costs compared to rigid metal-backed alternatives.
Specifications
The Slim-Line Flex Brush has a 0.125″ polypropylene spine designed for #2.5 slim-line retainers. It is available in five bristle lengths — 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/2″, and 2″ — to span different gap sizes between the retainer and the sealing surface. Order by the foot as a single continuous piece for custom-length jobs, or as a 200-foot reel for larger projects, fabrication shops, maintenance teams, and installers who regularly cut brush seal to different lengths on-site.
Applications
The Slim-Line Flex Brush is designed for side and top sealing on commercial and industrial door systems where a smaller brush profile is needed. Common applications include self-storage door perimeter sealing, rolling steel and sheet doors, commercial sectional doors, loading dock equipment, warehouse and distribution facilities, and food processing or agricultural facilities. The continuous format also supports non-door applications such as retractable screens, awnings, machinery brush guards, transportation equipment, and OEM integration projects.
Installation
Confirm that your existing or planned retainer uses a #2.5 slim-line channel before ordering. Measure the opening and select the bristle length needed to span the gap between the retainer and the contact surface. Feed the Flex Brush into the retainer channel and position it across the full length of the mounting area. Cut to length on-site with standard tools. Allow the bristles to make contact with the sealing surface without excessive compression. For long runs, feed the brush carefully through the retainer to avoid twisting or binding. Trim excess material after confirming consistent contact across the full installation.
Selection Assistance
Choosing the right bristle length depends on the gap between your retainer and the surface the brush needs to contact. A shorter bristle length like 1/2″ or 3/4″ is appropriate for tight clearances. Longer bristle lengths like 1-1/2″ or 2″ are designed for wider gaps on oversized commercial doors. If you’re unsure which length your application requires, measure the gap with the retainer installed and select the bristle length that will make consistent contact without excessive compression.
Action Industries also offers Standard and Large Flex Brush seals for #4 and #7 retainer channels. If your door uses a retainer larger than the #2.5 slim-line profile, the Standard or Large version may be the right fit. Barron Equipment can help match the correct brush and retainer combination.
