Overview
The Southworth LST Series Tandem Lift Table is purpose‑built for long, extended loads that exceed the platform length of standard lifting tables. By arranging two scissor mechanisms in an end‑to‑end tandem configuration, the LST provides level lifting for materials such as lumber, pipes, sheet stock, bar stock, and large assemblies that would otherwise hang over the edges of a conventional lift. Standard platforms reach up to 172 inches long (over 14 feet), with maximum platform lengths extending to 204 inches (17 feet).
Capacities range from 4,000 to 12,000 lbs across three travel ranges of 36, 48, and 60 inches. Standard and wide base configurations are available at each travel range. Raised heights reach up to 70 inches on the 60‑inch travel models. The tandem design maintains a low collapsed height of 7.25 inches on the 36 and 48 inch travel ranges, keeping long loads accessible for loading and unloading at near‑floor level.
Features and Benefits
The tandem scissor configuration is the defining advantage of the LST Series. Two complete scissor mechanisms working in synchronized parallel provide a level rise across the entire platform length, preventing the deflection, sagging, and tipping that would occur if a long load were placed on a shorter single‑scissor platform. Heavy duty torque tubes minimize platform twisting and deflection for a high degree of rigidity and stability across the full span.
Southworth’s proven low‑pressure hydraulic system provides smooth, controlled raising and lowering. Lubricated‑for‑life bushings at all pivot points eliminate routine maintenance. Contoured legs with extra width at the pivot point combine great strength with lower collapsed height. Heavy duty wire‑braided hoses, wear‑indicating captured rollers, and built‑in safety chocks are standard on every model. An extensive range of options including cross check valving, conveyor tops, vee cradle platforms, and automatic leveling packages allow the LST to be configured for specialized long‑load applications.
Applications
The LST Series serves applications where the load length exceeds what standard lift table platforms can accommodate. Common uses include feeding long materials into tube welders, formers, and panel saws at ergonomic working height, bundling and banding bar stock, lumber, and other long materials at adjustable height, sheet stock handling where large metal or wood sheets must be raised for processing, large assembly operations where long workpieces require height adjustable positioning, woodworking applications where boards, panels, and lumber need level support during cutting and assembly, and any process that requires level lifting of loads longer than 8 feet with capacities up to 12,000 lbs.
Selection Assistance
Standard LST models provide 24‑inch wide platforms for applications where the load is narrow relative to its length. Wide base models (LST_W suffix) expand platform widths to 36, 48, or 54 inches for loads that are both long and wide. The 36‑inch travel models are the most compact. The 48‑inch travel models serve the widest range of machine feeding applications. The 60‑inch travel models provide the highest raised height at 70 inches for applications requiring maximum vertical reach.
