Overview
Barron Equipment supplies the Storm Shield garage door threshold seal kit from Action Industries, an American-made PVC threshold designed for fast, DIY-friendly installation on residential and light-commercial garage floors. Once installed where the garage door meets the ground, Storm Shield creates a raised barrier that the door’s bottom seal presses against when the door is closed. This blocks wind-driven rainwater, snow, moisture, dust, dirt, leaves, insects, rodents, and snakes from entering under the door.
Unlike the solid aluminum Excalibur threshold built for heavy-duty industrial environments, Storm Shield is engineered for residential homeowners and lighter-use facilities where easy installation and chemical resistance are priorities. The PVC construction withstands exposure to oil, gas, antifreeze, and other common garage chemicals without degrading, and won’t crack, warp, or shatter in extreme heat or cold.
Specifications
Storm Shield is designed with a 3-1/4″ width, a 2″ flap, and a 45-degree hump profile. The overall height is 0.50″, which aligns with ADA threshold guidelines for accessibility. Each kit includes the Storm Shield threshold seal and adhesive for bonding to the garage floor — no additional purchases are required. The threshold is easy to trim to size, and Action Industries recommends rounding up to the nearest kit size for your door width. The product meets flame resistance requirements for CPAI-84 standards and is backed by a two-year residential warranty.
Applications
Storm Shield is designed for residential garages, workshops, hobby spaces, and any facility where the gap under the garage door allows water, pests, or debris to enter. It is especially effective in areas with heavy rain exposure, seasonal flooding near the threshold, pest pressure from insects or rodents, or significant temperature differentials between the garage interior and the outside air. The threshold can be used with most standard residential garage doors and works in combination with the door’s existing bottom seal to improve the overall barrier.
Installation
Clean the garage floor surface thoroughly where the threshold will be installed. Position the Storm Shield across the door opening with the 45-degree hump facing the exterior side of the door. If trimming is needed, the PVC material cuts easily with standard tools. Apply the included adhesive to the underside of the threshold and press it firmly into position on the floor. Allow the adhesive to cure before operating the door over the threshold. Confirm the door’s bottom seal makes consistent contact with the top of the Storm Shield when the door is closed.
Selection Assistance
Barron Equipment carries two threshold product lines from Action Industries. Storm Shield is the residential-grade PVC option with a complete kit that includes adhesive — ideal for homeowners and lighter-use applications. The Excalibur is the industrial-grade solid aluminum option with V-groove skid-resistant surface and bolt-down mounting — built for forklift traffic and heavy commercial environments.
