Barron Equipment supplies the Action Industries A2040 U-shaped aluminum bottom seal retainer, the most heavy-duty bottom retainer option in the Action Industries lineup. The 2″ x 2″ U-shaped profile wraps around the bottom edge of 2 inch thick garage doors, with two mounting plates that fasten to both sides of the door panel for a stronger, more secure hold than L-shaped or flat retainer designs.
This dual-sided mounting approach makes the A2040 the preferred choice for commercial and residential doors that see frequent use or require extra stability at the bottom seal. Constructed from high-quality solid aluminum in a mill finish, the retainer resists corrosion and warping while holding the installed weatherstripping firmly in place. It is available in eight pre-cut lengths from 5′-1″ to 18′-4″ to accommodate virtually any 2 inch thick door.
Compatible Seals
The A2040 accepts any 1/4 inch T-style or T-end bottom seal from Action Industries, including rubber seals, vinyl seals, bulb seals, and Xcluder rodent-blocking seals. The retainer channel is designed for single-track seals with a 1/4 inch T-end insertion profile. Applications
The A2040 is built for 2 inch thick garage doors in both residential and commercial settings. Its U-shaped design makes it especially well-suited for doors that see high daily traffic, heavy wind exposure, or applications where the bottom seal must stay securely mounted over time. Common door types include overhead doors, sectional garage doors, vinyl garage doors, wood garage doors, and commercial panel doors. Like all Action Industries bottom retainers, the A2040 can be paired with a garage door threshold seal mounted to the floor for an additional layer of protection against rain, snow, dust, leaves, and pests.
Available Lengths
The A2040 is available in mill finish aluminum in eight standard pre-cut lengths: 5′-1″, 8′-2″, 9′-2″, 10′-2″, 12′-4″, 14′-4″, 16′-4″, and 18′-4″. The retainer can also be cut to length for non-standard door widths. Barron Equipment can coordinate custom-cut retainers through Action Industries for projects that require exact specifications.
Installation
Slide the U-shaped retainer over the bottom edge of the door panel so the two mounting plates sit flush against both sides of the door. Verify alignment across the full width of the door before fastening. Drill fastener holes through both mounting plates and secure to the door with appropriate hardware for the door material. When the installation requires more than one section, align adjoining pieces carefully so the channel remains straight and unobstructed. After cutting aluminum to length, remove sharp edges or burrs before inserting the seal. Slide the compatible T-end bottom seal into the channel and confirm even floor contact when the door is closed.
Selection Assistance
The right bottom retainer depends on your door thickness and the level of mounting security your application requires. The A2040 U-shaped retainer is designed for 2 inch thick doors and provides the most secure mount of any bottom retainer in the Action Industries lineup, thanks to its dual-sided mounting plates. For 2 inch doors that only need single-sided mounting, the A2020 L-shaped retainer is an alternative. For thinner doors, Barron carries flat, L-shaped, and U-shaped retainers in sizes ranging from 1/2 inch to 3 inches.
